Clay County is part of the Pataula Judicial Circuit. There are two judges on the circuit that rotate through multiple counties. Honorable Joe C. Bishop is the Chief Judge for the Pataula Judicial Circuit and his office can be reached at 229-995-4994. Judge Thomas H. Baxley is the other judge on the Pataula Judicial Circuit and he can be reached at 229-723-8232. Clay County Probate Court prosecutes misdemeanors and traffic violations that occur in Clay County but outside of the City Limits of Fort Gaines. Judge Melissa Shivers presides over Clay County Probate Court. Probate Court is held at 210 South Washington Street, Fort Gaines, Georgia 39851. Traffic violation tickets that occur in Fort Gaines will go before Fort Gaines Municipal Court. The Judge for Fort Gaines Municipal Court is the Honorable William H. Mills.
