Clayton County Superior Court

The Superior Court is Georgia's general jurisdiction trial court. It has jurisdiction over both criminal cases such as felony cases, divorce cases, equity cases and cases that involve a jury. For example, if you are charged with a misdemeanor or traffic violation but request a jury trial, you will be transferred to Clayton County Superior Court. 

Clayton County belongs to the Clayton Judicial Circuit, which consists of four judges. The Chief Judge is the Honorable Albert B. Collier and his office can be reached at 770-477-3495. Judge Deborah Benefield, Judge Geronda Carter and Judge Matthew Simmons are the other three judges of the Clayton Judicial Circuit. Tracy Graham Lawson is the District Attorney for Clayton County and her office can be reached at 770-477-3450. Clayton County State Court

Clayton County State Court prosecutes misdemeanors and traffic violations that occur in Clayton County but outside of the City Limits of College Park, Forest Park, Jonesboro, Lake City, Lovejoy, Morrow, and Riverdale. There are four judges that preside over Clayton County State Court: Chief Judge Linda S. Cowen, Judge Kathryn L. Powers, Judge Tammi Hayward, and Judge Michael T. Garrett. Clayton County State Court is held at Harold R.
