Macon County Superior Court

The Superior Court is Georgia's general jurisdiction trial court. It has jurisdiction over both criminal cases such as felony cases, divorce cases, equity cases and cases that involve a jury. For example, if you are charged with a misdemeanor or traffic violation but request a jury trial, you will be transferred to Macon County Superior Court.

Macon County is part of the Southwestern Judicial Circuit. There are three judges on the circuit that rotate through multiple counties. Honorable R. Rucker Smith is the Chief Judge for the Southwestern Judicial Circuit and his office can be reached at 229-928-4554. Judge George M. Peagler Jr. and W. Macon County Probate Court

Macon County Probate Court prosecutes misdemeanors and traffic violations that occur in Macon County but outside of the City Limits of Montezuma and Oglethorpe. The Honorable Thomas B. Martin presides over Macon County Probate Court. Probate Court is located at 121 Sumter Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia 31068. Montezuma Municipal Court

Traffic violation tickets that occur in Lumpkin will go before Lumpkin Municipal Court. The Judge for Lumpkin Municipal Court is the Honorable William H. Gregory II.
