The Superior Court is Georgia's general jurisdiction trial court. It has jurisdiction over both criminal cases such as felony cases, divorce cases, equity cases and cases that involve a jury. Effingham County is part of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit. There are three judges on the circuit that rotate through multiple counties. Honorable William E. Woodrum Jr. is the Chief Judge for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit and his office can be reached at 912-764-4251. Judge F. Gates Peed and Judge John R. Turner are the other two judges that serve on the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit. Richard A. Mallard is the District Attorney for Ogeechee Judicial Circuit and his office can be reached at 912-764-9924.
