The Superior Court is Georgia's general jurisdiction trial court. It has jurisdiction over both criminal cases such as felony cases, divorce cases, equity cases and cases that involve a jury. For example, if you are charged with a misdemeanor or traffic violation but request a jury trial, you will be transferred to Jackson County Superior Court.

Jackson County is part of the Piedmont Judicial Circuit. There are six judges on the circuit that rotate through Banks, Barrow, and Jackson County. Honorable David Motes is the Chief Judge for the Piedmont Judicial Circuit and his office can be reached at 770-307-3032. The other judges on the Court include: Judge Joseph H. Booth, Judge Currie M.
