Alleged Homicide Suspects Identified as Gang Members in Cobb County

Posted by Richard Lawson | Jan 15, 2019 | 0 Comments

Cobb County recently tracked down a few suspects in a homicide case by identifying them in a music video. As a result, a grand jury made two indictments against two different alleged gang subsets of the Bloods.

The Blood started as a street gang in Los Angeles, California. They are allegedly identified by wearing the color red and using distinctive hand signs. The national Bloods gang is usually separated into local subcategories. The two subsets were identified as All Profit and Extortion Gang and the Bounty Hunter Bloods.

Criminal Street Gang Laws in Georgia

Gang Crimes in Georgia are outlined by Georgia Law in numerous statutes. O.C.G.A. §16-15-3 outlines different definitions for criminal gang activity and criminal street gang.

By Georgia Law, “criminal street gang" means any organization, association, or group of three or more persons associated in fact, whether formal or informal, which engages in criminal gang activity as defined in paragraph (1) of this Code section. The existence of such organization, association, or group of individuals associated in fact may be established by evidence of a common name or common identifying signs, symbols, tattoos, graffiti, or attire or other distinguishing characteristics, including, but not limited to, common activities, customs, or behaviors. Such term shall not include three or more persons, associated in fact, whether formal or informal, who are not engaged in criminal gang activity.

There are many different ways to be charged and/or convicted of criminal gang activity in Georgia. Most criminal street gang crimes are felonies in the state of Georgia and can carry penalties of up to twenty years in prison.
