At Lawson and Berry, we are very excited about our new Georgia Criminal Lawyer website and the Georgia Criminal Defense Blog.

Our goal is to provide our readers the most updated information on Georgia's criminal justice system and how it interacts with our clients. We want to provide real information, along with an occasional opinion.

As Georgia Criminal Defense Attorneys with over a combined 40 years of experience, we want our readers to benefit from what we have learned in our practice. 

The justice system is a human endeavor. People often are subjected to different punishments for the same offense, depending on factors that can be both reasonable and unreasonable.  Sometimes, the jurisdiction where a crime occurred can make all the difference in the outcome of the case. Many people are treated unfairly, and some people are given a better outcome than what would seem fair when compared to other cases.

The Georgia Criminal Defense Blog will do its best to try to explain different outcomes, as well as why some people have been given a second chance and others have not. 

The Georgia Criminal Defense Blog will also provide our readers current legal news, with a focus on criminal cases in Georgia. We may occasionally cover non-criminal stories, but there never seems to be a shortage of criminal law stories that need to be covered.  

Finally, it is our hope that this forum will be a place where we can influence the direction of Georgia's criminal justice system. It is the opinion of our attorneys that Georgia is far too punitive and far less focused on rehabilitation than it should be. 

People make mistakes, and the justice system sometimes fails to give ordinary people a chance to correct bad behavior. Sometimes, the legal system is unjust and arbitrary. 

We hope to provide context to the everyday problems of our clients and to those who interact with Georgia's legal system.

We want to make a difference for our clients and to people who will never call us.
